2010 Fall Anime post

So I decided to do one of these for some of the new animes I have watched this fall.

First off,

Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt

Now, I'm a little biased because I love Studio Gainax but I really love this anime. It's something fresh and new and I love the characters that have shown up so far.

I also love that it is a mix of an American cartoon and a Japanese anime. Like someone on /a/ said "This is what happens when Japan does an American cartoon and it's awesome!" It is also one of the most interesting and crazy animes that Gainax has done since FLCL. It may turn out to be more wackier than that.

It's not a show for everyone and you will realize if you like this show or not in the first 5 minutes of watching this.

Star Driver

What can I say about Star Driver?

I love Mecha anime and that is what drew me to it at first and I didn't know what to expect.

It blew my mind. This anime is so bright and vivid and fabulous!

At first the main character annoyed me with his over enthusiasm but when he did that magical girl-esque transformation sequence, along with the mechs that appeared, he captured my heart and I now have a secondary anime to watch this fall and winter season. Also, the mysterious plot with this cult also caught my eye and I can't wait until more about this is revealed.

The World God Only Knows

I broke my rule of reading the manga or other source material first before watched the animated adaptation but I saw the PV of this anime and I wanted to check it out.

This is about an otaku named Katsuragi Keima who is the 'god of getting girls in dating sim games' but is a complete dork in real life and other girls pay him no mind. He unexpectedly, due to his own arrogance, signs a hell contract and now has to help a cute little girl demon named Elsee capture loose spirits that have manifested into the hearts of the girls in his school, or he looses his head. The only way for him to do that is for them to open their hearts to him and sorta fall in love with him. Keima uses dating sim knowledge in a hilarious way to try to win the girls' hearts so he and Elsee can seal the spirit away.

It may seems like an harem anime but (highlight for spoilers): after the demons leave the girls' hearts, they don't remember him or any of the things he did to have them fall in love with him. Keima himself says that it is better this way.

Like with Panty and Stocking, this is a love it or hate it show but it is really cute anime.

Orz, this is the first time I've done something like this, forgive me.

Angel Hair Pasta and Egg Noodle Mix!

Here's a fun and easy dish!

Ingredients Note: This is the directions for just one person.
7 oz of Angel Hair Pasta
1 cup of Egg Noodles
1 cup of Tomato Marinra Sauce or Tomato Pasta Sauce will work (Add more sauce if you want.)
1 tablespoon of Butter or Olive oil
1/4 teaspoon of Chopped Garlic(Optional)
Various herbs (Try anything you think will work)

Directions
Boil the pasta and noodles together and according the box directions.

While the pasta and noodles are boiling, heat the tomato sauce on Medium to Medium high. Don't let it burn! After two minutes or so, add the herbs (I used Italian Seasoning) and chopped garlic. Stir in well. Once it is stirred in well, take it off the heat.

Once the pasta and noodles are done, drain it and then put them back into the pot.

Add a little butter or olive oil to the pasta/noodle mix. Stir.

Finally, add the tomato sauce to the pasta/noodle mix and stir in well.

Serve with garlic bread if you want.

Enjoy!

Chibisan Date Chapter 3

Brown Butter Snickerdoodle Muffins

Brown Butter Snickerdoodle Muffins

INGREDIENTS:
1 stick unsalted butter, browned (see directions for instructions on browning butter)
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon cream of tarter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon mixed together for topping (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

1. First, to brown your butter, get out a non-stick saucepan and set the heat on medium-low. Stick your stick (hah) of butter inside the pan and let melt completely. Butter should start foaming up on top, which will make it hard to see if it is "browning" or not. Don't worry, if this happens, determine if it's done or not by smell. As soon as the butter begins to starts to emit a nutty smell, give it a stir or two with your fork. It may start bubbling (thats ok). Keep the butter over medium-low heat for about 2 minutes after it starts to smell nutty. Stir again and let it bubble for a little longer, about 1 minute or so. You should see a bit of caramelization on the sides of the saucepan building up, and the smell should be getting stronger and more "caramel"-y. When this happens, take the saucepan off the heater and let cool. The foam will die down and you should be left with a glorious bronze color. If your butter does not foam (some dont) then just wait for the butter to get a bronze color before pulling it off the saucepan.

2. After browning your butter, LET IT COOL COMPLETELY. This is important because we do NOT want hot butter to go with the eggs as they will start cooking.

3. Preheat your oven to 375F degrees, spraying a paper-lined 12 cup muffin or 2 mini muffin tins with nonstick spray.

4. In separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and cinnamon.

5. In your mixing bowl (the one that will hold your muffin batter), take a whisk and whisk together the sugar, eggs, COOLED brown butter, vanilla, milk, and sour cream. Do not over whisk. It's okay if there are a few lumps from the sour cream.

6. Add flour mixture and whisk in JUST UNTIL there are no signs of flour left. Once again, DO NOT OVERMIX. It's okay if the batter is lumpy -- it's suppose to be.

7. If using the sugar and cinnamon topping mix, GENEROUSLY cover the top of each muffin with the mix (about a heaping tablespoon for each).

8. Bake muffins at 375F for 15-20 minutes, sticking a toothpick in the middle of one of the muffins to check for doneness (in other words, the toothpick should come out with only a few moist crumbs). Take out and cool muffins on wire wrack.

9. Muffins can be frozen and then warmed in the oven or microwave if desired. These are best served warm and out of the oven with a strong cup of coffee.

Makes 12 normal sized muffins and 20ish mini muffins.
